How Islam sees Jesus

HIS BIRTH

Islam believes that Jesus were birth by Mary (Maryam) not through normal conception, but as a word from Him, as the proof that He has all the intentions:

Behold! the angels said: “O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Isa Almasih (Christ Jesus) , the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah (Imran 3:45)

HIS MIRACLES

Islam believes that Jesus as other prophets has been given miracles, and the one that become his first miracle was talking ability while he still was a baby to acknowledge that he just an Allah’s Messenger.

“And she pointed to the babe. They said: “How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?” He said: “I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;  (Mary 19:29-30)

And his second miracle was his given ability to give a birdy clay life and heal those born blind, by Allah’s leave.

“And (appoint him) a messenger to the Children of Israel, (with this message): “‘I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah’s leave: And I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah’s leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe;(Ali Imran 3:49)

Alquran affirm that he is not The God although having such ability by declaring that his ability is occurred only by Allah’s leave.

HIS POSITION IN QURAN

Again, his position in Quran is that he is not The God. He is just Allah’s Messenger. Alquran affirm this in many verses, one of those was told on above verses, and among the others is what we can see in the verse below:

He said: “I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet; (Mar 19:30)

Confirmation that he is not God, is his statement that declare himself as the son of Mary, not God.

“Those who say that the Messiah, son of Maryam, is the third of three are disbelievers. There is no god but One God. (Al-Maidah 5: 73)

That is why, according to Quran he will be the witness against those who say that he is the son of God (such as his confirmation that he is not the third of three, as mention on the verse above):

There is not one of the People of the Book who will not believe in him before he dies (that he is not the third of the three); and on the Day of Rising he will be a witness against them. (An-Nisa 4:159)

And what he said:  “‘It is Allah Who is my Lord and your Lord; then worship Him. This is a Way that is straight.'”

HIS RELIGIONS

Alquran say that his religion was the same as what Allah give to Moses, and he was sent by Allah to attaest His Law on it, and to make lawful the part of what was forbidden.

“I have come to you, to attest the Law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; I have come to you with a Sign from your Lord. So fear Allah, and obey me” (Al-Imran 3:50)

To do this Allah had given him the book (which is Bible), as he was affirmed said in the quran: “: He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;  (Mary 19:30)

THE CRUCIFIXION AND RESURRECTION

Muslims also deny the crucifixion episode, by deny we do not say it did not happen, rather we say the event did happen, however so Jesus did not get crucified nor did he die. Since we deny the crucifixion and death of Jesus, this logically means that we also deny the supposed resurrection of Jesus, and the doctrine of Jesus dying for our sins.

“That they said (in boast), “We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah”;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not But Allah (God) raised him unto Himself. (An- Nisaa 4: 157-158)

HIS RETURN

Islam believes that Jesus will return before the day of judgement to fix many things that have been messed by the disbelievers. Quran affirm this as shown below:

“When Allah said, “‘Isa, I will take you back and raise you up to Me and purify you of those who are disbelievers. And I will place the people who follow you above those who are disbelievers until the Day of Rising. Then you will all return to Me, and I will judge between you regarding the things about which you differed.” (Ali Imran 3: 55)

Among  which that will be corrected are the faith that Jesus is son of God (by breaking the cross), wipe off those haraam that being eaten by the disbeliever such as pig, and abolish the protection tax (jizyah) that being paid by a non muslim to the khaliph of muslim, by converting them to be  muslim. All muslim will recognised him by his look, and together with him they will fight Dajjal (commander of the disbeliever that sell his soul to lucifer) as listed on the hadith below:

Abu Hurairah (ra) narrated, “The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: ‘There is no prophet between me and him, that is, ‘Isa, peace be upon him. He will descend (to the earth). When you see him, recognise him: a man of medium height, reddish fair, wearing two light yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling down from his head though it will not be wet. He will fight the people for the cause of Islam. He will break the cross, kill the pig, and abolish the jizyah. Allah will cause to perish all religions except Islam. He will destroy the Dajjal and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die. The Muslims will pray over him.'” (Abu Dawud)

Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah said, “I heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying, ‘A party of my ummah will never stop fighting for the truth victoriously until the Day of Rising.’ He said, ‘Then ‘Isa ibn Maryam, peace be upon him, will descend and their amir will say, “Come and lead us in prayer,” but he will say, “No! some of you are amirs over others,” as Allah’s showing honour to this ummah.'” (Sahih Muslim)
